Lithuanian Minister to Visit Lazdijai Amid Community Concerns Over Military Training Ground
The Lithuanian Minister of National Defence will visit Lazdijai in response to community concerns regarding a proposed military training ground in the Kapčiamiestis area. The establishment of this facility, aimed at supporting army modernization and accommodating increasing numbers of conscripts and allied forces, follows a cooperation agreement signed with the Association of Local Authorities in Lithuania to provide benefits for municipalities with military installations. Army Commander Raimundas Vaikšnoras emphasized that southern Lithuania is the most suitable location for the new brigade-sized training ground.

The Lithuanian Minister of National Defence will visit Lazdijai following concerns from the Kapčiamiestis community about a proposed military training ground. In October, the Ministry signed a cooperation agreement with the Association of Local Authorities in Lithuania to provide benefits for municipalities with existing or future military training facilities.
The establishment of a brigade-sized training ground aims to support army modernization and accommodate a growing number of conscripts and allied forces. Army Commander Raimundas Vaikšnoras highlighted the need for this new facility, stating that southern Lithuania is the most suitable location.
