LKP Plants Integrates Sustainability into Operations Amid Economic Pressures
LKP Plants has enhanced its sustainability practices since 2017, focusing on energy efficiency and biological crop protection. As profitability becomes paramount, the nursery emphasizes the importance of consumer perception in the floral and plant market.

LKP Plants, a 9.5-hectare nursery in the Netherlands, has integrated sustainability into its operations, particularly since 2017, following discussions on natural gas extraction in Groningen. The company has implemented measures across water use, energy, fertilization, and crop protection, prioritizing small incremental improvements over large investments.
In 2022, LKP spent approximately €120,000 on biological crop control compared to €4,200 on chemical solutions, reflecting a commitment to sustainable practices. As economic pressures grow, the nursery is reassessing profitability while emphasizing the intrinsic value of plants and flowers in enhancing quality of life.
