Lockheed and Competitors Vie for Polish Helicopter Contracts
Lockheed Martin aims to secure a Polish helicopter tender, leveraging local production capabilities for the Black Hawk. Poland seeks utility helicopters for special forces and naval operations, with competition from Airbus and Bell Helicopter.

Lockheed Martin's local unit is positioned to rapidly produce the Black Hawk S-70i, enhancing its bid for Poland's helicopter tenders for special forces and naval applications. Airbus Helicopters is also competing with its Caracal H225M for special operations and the AW101 Merlin for the Navy.
Previous negotiations for 50 Caracal helicopters were halted, prompting the current tender process. Concurrently, Airbus is competing for a light utility helicopter contract in the Czech Republic against Bell Helicopter, which is also preparing to enter the Romanian market for 50 new helicopters to replace aging fleets. The Mi-17 remains a key competitor due to its cost-effectiveness.
