Lockheed Martin and Fujitsu Sign Contract for SPY-7 Radar Power Supply Units for Japan's Aegis Program
Lockheed Martin and Fujitsu signed a contract on February 12 for the procurement of power supply units for the SPY-7 radar, a key component of Japan's Aegis System Equipped Vessels. This agreement follows a prior MOU established in May 2025 and marks the first procurement deal between the companies. The SPY-7 radar supports Japan's missile defense strategy and will be integrated into the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force's ASEV program, with vessels expected to be commissioned in 2027 and 2028.

This contract follows a May 2025 MOU, marking the first procurement agreement. The SPY-7 radar is designed for ballistic missile defense and integrated air defense. Japan's Ministry of Defense has contracts for two ASEVs, expected to enter service in fiscal years 2027 and 2028. The SPY-7 will compete with Raytheon's SPY-6 radar for Japan's next-generation Aegis destroyers.
