Lockheed Martin Secures $100M Upgrade for MH-60R Seahawk Radar Systems
The U.S. Navy has awarded Lockheed Martin nearly $100 million to enhance the radar processing technology of the MH-60R Seahawk helicopter. This upgrade is vital for maintaining advanced detection capabilities in increasingly complex operational environments.

The U.S. Navy is investing approximately $99.5 million in Lockheed Martin for a radar data processor upgrade for the MH-60R Seahawk's AN/APS-153 radar system, with completion expected by April 2031. The upgrade will be performed across Farmingdale, Owego, and Stratford, with $21 million obligated at award from Navy and Foreign Military Sales funds.
The modernization is crucial as the radar system is essential for anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare, requiring current processing technology to address evolving threats. With a substantial fleet of MH-60Rs in service, the upgrade is economically viable and enhances operational effectiveness for both U.S. and allied operators. This contract reinforces the importance of quality information in anti-submarine warfare, as timely detection of threats is critical.
