Lombard Shipping Installs SolarEdge Solar and Battery System at Ipswich Hub to Cut Costs

SOLAR ENERGY

Lombard Shipping is implementing a SolarEdge system at its Ipswich hub to reduce electricity costs by 50%. The system will generate about 118 MWh of electricity annually, with lifetime savings projected at £1 million over 20 years and a payback period of 5.3 years.

The installation includes 226 solar panels, a 102.4 kWh battery, and six EV chargers, enabling Lombard to use approximately 83% of the solar power produced. Managed by Insight Energy, the system features DC-optimised inverters and is designed for scalability. It also supports the company's two new electric HGVs, improving energy management in response to rising demand.
