Long Island Manufacturing Center Secures $30 Million Grant from New York State

DEFENSE

A proposed manufacturing center on Long Island, named the Regional Commercialization Corridor, has received a $30 million grant from New York State. This center aims to support entrepreneurs in developing prototype products and securing financing.

It is one of four projects awarded a total of $150 million in a competition among the state's 10 Regional Economic Development Councils. The Long Island council initially sought $50 million for the 50,000-square-foot facility, which will operate under Newlab LLC.

The center will focus on aerospace/defense, clean energy, and cyber physical systems, including semiconductors and AI. It is anticipated to open in late 2027 and become self-sustaining by 2030. Additionally, 29 projects on Long Island received $26.4 million in state funding, including a $5 million grant for Brookhaven Town to replace septic tanks with sewers.
