Louisiana Residents Oppose Proposed Carbon Capture Facility in Beauregard Parish
Residents of Ragley, Louisiana, expressed opposition to the proposed Louisiana Energy Gateway's Gillis Treating/CCS Facility at a public meeting. The facility, designed to process natural gas and remove CO2, could handle 1.1 billion cubic feet per day and create 10 permanent jobs. The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality hosted a meeting for Ragley residents to provide feedback on the proposed Gillis Treating/CCS Facility by Louisiana Energy Gateway. This facility would process up to 1.1 billion cubic feet of natural gas daily, with plans for future carbon capture.
Community members voiced strong opposition, highlighting concerns over emissions and potential impacts on property values. The facility aims to create 10 permanent jobs and is projected to begin operations in Q3 2027, pending approval. The site would be located on a nearly 70-acre parcel.
