Lowndes County residents are calling for transparency from the Board of Commissioners concerning a proposed AI data center on Coleman Road, initiated by Pope Langdale III and AI infrastructure provider DC BLOX. The Lowndes Citizens Against Data Centers (LCAD) has sent an open letter requesting a moratorium until community concerns are addressed, including water and light pollution and increased electricity bills.
The county noted that while the land was rezoned, no official plans have been submitted. It stated that a Development of Regional Impact study is required, and site visits to other data centers are planned for further research. Similar concerns were raised in Lordstown, where officials held a meeting on data center regulations amid a pending court case.
