Lumut Naval Shipyard Enhances Malaysia's Maritime Defense Under CEO Azhar Jumaat
Lumut Naval Shipyard, led by CEO Azhar Jumaat, is central to Malaysia's maritime defense, focusing on the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Program. Following a governance shift in 2023, the shipyard aims to deliver LCS1 by May 2024 and LCS2 by May 2025, with a third vessel in early 2026. The shipyard is also investing in digital upgrades and sustainability initiatives, including solar technology. As a government-owned entity, LUNAS is positioned to strengthen Malaysia's naval capabilities and aims to become a regional player in the Asia-Pacific.
