Luxembourg Launches Pre-Financing Mechanism for Residential Photovoltaic Installations

SOLAR ENERGY

Luxembourg's Ministry of the Economy and the Ministry of the Environment announced a pre-financing mechanism for financial aid related to residential photovoltaic installations, effective January 4, 2026. The 'Klimabonus Wunnen' subsidy will be applied directly to the final invoice by installers, reducing upfront costs for households.

Initially covering photovoltaic systems and optionally domestic batteries, the scheme aims to expand to other components of the financial aid program. Financial aid is available for residential building owners in Luxembourg, with a maximum subsidy of €10,000 for 15 kWp installations and €2,250 for 9 kWh batteries.

A transitional phase allows applicants to choose between the new and former support schemes until March 4, 2026, with retroactive effects from October 1, 2024. The classic application procedure remains for certain cases, and supporting tools are available through Klima-Agence.
