Madhya Pradesh Plans Infrastructure as Urban Population Expected to Reach 50% by 2047

Madhya Pradesh Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya announced that by 2047, approximately 50% of the state's population will live in urban areas. Infrastructure projects are being planned to accommodate this shift.

The state aims to improve air quality and prevent polluted water from entering the Narmada river, with developments in Indore-Ujjain and Bhopal metropolitan areas focusing on basic amenities, investment, and employment. The plans for these metropolitan regions are ready and will be implemented after discussions with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.

The government is also digitizing services through e-municipality and promoting green initiatives, including solar energy use. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban, over 160,000 houses have been constructed, placing Madhya Pradesh second in PMAY implementation. Indore has been recognized as the cleanest city for eight consecutive years, and metro rail services have commenced in Indore, with Bhopal's operations beginning soon.
