Madison Adopts Crooked Creek Flood Mitigation Master Plan
Madison's Board of Public Works & Safety has approved a multi-phased Flood Mitigation Master Plan for Crooked Creek. The initiative aims to significantly reduce flash flooding risks in the city, particularly following severe rainfall events.

The Crooked Creek Flood Mitigation Master Plan, adopted by Madison's Board of Public Works & Safety, outlines a strategy to address flash flooding risks over a projected 5-7 year implementation period. Developed with Commonwealth Engineers and the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers, the plan includes several phases, with Phase I set to begin this fall. Funding remains a crucial factor, as the city has secured a $1 million federal grant to aid initial efforts.
The city will pursue additional grants and partnerships with private landowners to create drainage easements. Continued evaluation after each phase will be necessary to adjust strategies based on progress.
