Maharashtra Launches Rs 17,000 Crore Green Steel and Coal Gasification Projects in Chandrapur

An integrated green steel plant and coal gasification project will be developed in Bhadravati, Maharashtra, with a total investment of Rs 17,000 crore, as announced by Union Minister G Kishan Reddy. The projects aim to generate over 10,000 jobs and boost the Vidarbha economy.

They will focus on producing ammonia nitrate, green steel, and hydrogen to reduce imports. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis highlighted the importance of utilizing local mineral resources responsibly, while emphasizing the initiatives' contributions to Maharashtra's goal of becoming a USD one trillion economy. The region has attracted investments of Rs 3 lakh crore, projecting employment for 100,000 people.
