Maharashtra to Launch Floating Solar Projects on Dams in Krishna and Godavari Basins

NOVEL RENEWABLE ENERGYSOLAR ENERGY

Maharashtra plans to implement floating solar projects on dam reservoirs across the Krishna and Godavari basins, as announced by state water resources minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil. This initiative aims to enhance power generation and promote renewable energy.

The project will utilize existing water bodies, eliminating the need for additional land acquisition, thus reducing costs and lead times. The generated power will primarily support the electricity needs of the farming community.

A public-private partnership (PPP) model is proposed to ensure financial viability and attract foreign investment and expertise. Additionally, the floating solar panels will help reduce water evaporation, conserving water for agricultural use.
