Maharashtra to Recruit 33 More Security Personnel to Secure Aarey Colony Against Encroachments
The Maharashtra state government plans to recruit 33 additional security personnel to prevent encroachments in Aarey Colony, as confirmed by Dairy Development Minister Atul Save. Currently, 35 security personnel are stationed at Aarey and the neighboring forest area. Recent discussions in the Legislative Council highlighted issues of encroachment and debris dumping, particularly at a 12th-century archaeological site. An FIR has been filed against a contractor responsible for debris dumping, and 469 encroachments have been removed.

The Maharashtra government will recruit 33 additional security personnel to prevent encroachments in Aarey Colony. Currently, there are 35 personnel managing the area. Concerns regarding encroachment and debris dumping were raised in the Legislative Council, prompting Minister Atul Save to note that an FIR has been filed against a contractor for dumping debris at Units 20/21.
The department has removed 469 new encroachments and is seeking to employ ex-police and ex-army personnel due to staffing shortages. A meeting of elected officials will be convened to further address these issues.
