Maharlika Consortium Invests P2.1 Billion in Microgrid Projects to Electrify 11,560 Households in the Philippines
The Maharlika Consortium is investing P2.1 billion in 24 microgrid projects aimed at electrifying 11,560 households in underserved areas of Palawan, Cebu, and Quezon. The initiative, which is the largest private-sector investment in rural electrification in the Philippines, will benefit over 50,000 people and local enterprises, deploying 7 MW of solar PV, 8 MWh of battery storage, and 3.5 MW of diesel capacity. Construction is expected to take 10-12 months, creating 300 temporary jobs and 30 permanent positions.

The Maharlika Consortium has begun construction on 24 microgrid projects in the Philippines with a total investment of P2.1 billion. These projects aim to provide 24/7 electricity to 11,560 households in Palawan, Cebu, and Quezon, benefiting over 50,000 residents and local businesses.
The projects include deploying 7 megawatts of solar photovoltaic systems, 8 megawatt-hours of battery storage, and 3.5 megawatts of diesel capacity, with smart distribution networks. The construction phase is expected to last 10-12 months and will create approximately 300 jobs. The consortium plans to expand further by applying for additional sites this year.
