Major General John Whittaker Appointed Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations
Major General John Whittaker has been appointed as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations by the Minister of Defence. In this role, he will be responsible for overseeing the operational efficiency, training, organization, equipment distribution, and planning for Óglaigh na hÉireann. Whittaker brings extensive experience from previous positions, including Director of Training and Education and Commanding Officer of the 6th Infantry Battalion.

Major General John Whittaker has been appointed Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations) by the Minister of Defence and Government. He will oversee the fighting efficiency, training, organisation, equipment distribution, and operational planning of Óglaigh na hÉireann. Whittaker has previously served as Director of Training and Education, Director of Public Relations, Director of Transport, Commandant of the Military College, and Commanding Officer of the 6th Infantry Battalion in Custume Barracks, Athlone.
