Malaysia Advances in Semiconductor and Green Economy Initiatives
Malaysia is enhancing its position in the global semiconductor industry while transitioning to a green economy, with significant contributions from local organizations and government support. Notable events include the 40th Anniversary of IKM Sarawak and the SEMICON Southeast Asia 2026 conference, which highlight advancements in green technology and semiconductor packaging.

Malaysia is transitioning to high-value semiconductor segments, such as integrated circuit design and advanced packaging, supported by a RM185 million investment from the government and industry. The 40th Anniversary Chemistry Night by IKM Sarawak emphasized the role of chemistry in achieving net-zero goals and highlighted the upcoming IUPAC World Polymer Congress in July.
Meanwhile, the SEMICON Southeast Asia 2026 conference attracted nearly 21,000 participants, reinforcing Malaysia's semiconductor hub status. The establishment of the Malaysian Advanced Packaging Consortium (MAPC) aims to capture at least 7% of the global advanced packaging market by 2035, focusing on AI and HPC technologies. These initiatives may strengthen Malaysia's technological capabilities but will likely have medium to long-term impacts on corporate revenues.
