Malian Army Conducts Kayes Operation, Eliminates 40 Militants and Rescues Hostages
The Malian Army conducted a week-long operation in the Kayes region, resulting in the death of about 40 militants and the rescue of 12 hostages. The operation, named Dougoukolo, dismantled several militant hideouts and seized weapons, equipment, and vehicles. The army remains committed to ongoing operations against armed groups in the country.

The Malian Army reported the killing of approximately 40 militants, including a senior leader, during a security operation in the Kayes region from March 14 to 21. Operation Dougoukolo targeted areas such as Yelimane and Segala, dismantling militant hideouts and rescuing 12 hostages.
The operation seized a cache of weapons, communication equipment, and over 3,000 liters of fuel. Three vehicles, including a commercial bus, were recovered. The rescued hostages are undergoing medical assessment. The army reiterated its commitment to combat armed groups nationwide.
