RiverOak Strategic Partners Ltd. (RSP) plans to revive Manston Airport, targeting a reopening by 2028 with an investment of £500 million to £750 million. The company secured a Development Consent Order in 2020, updated in 2022, with construction anticipated to start in early 2024.
Initial operations will feature an average of 16 Air Transport Movements (ATMs) daily, increasing to 77 ATMs during peak summer months by 2038. The project will impact approximately 26,224 residents due to increased noise levels. The airport's history includes service as a Royal Air Force station and later as Kent International Airport before its closure in May 2014.
