Marang Terminal Development to Enhance Terengganu's Silica Processing Hub by 2028
The Marang Terminal project in Terengganu is set for completion by Q3 2028, establishing the region as a key logistics hub for silica. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the downstream economic chain in the silica industry, with an emphasis on high-purity silica production for various industrial applications.

The Marang Terminal, expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2028, aims to position Terengganu as a regional silica processing hub. TRG Industrial Mineral (TIM) is central to this initiative, focusing on high-purity silica production.
The Terengganu Silica Consortium manages upstream and midstream processing, while TRG Silika (Marang) specializes in ultra-high purity silica. The state government is also exploring Rare Earth Elements (REE) development, identifying potential resources of approximately 7.19 million metric tons.
Furthermore, LNG regasification efforts in Kemaman target completion by Q4 2029, with LNG sourced from Mexico, potentially boosting local supply chains despite rising development costs. These advancements could enhance Terengganu's socioeconomic status and attract high-tech investments.
