Marion Advances Water Well and Treatment Facility Projects Funded by U.S. Army Corps Grant
The town of Marion is advancing its infrastructure projects, including a new water well and treatment facility, funded by a $3.4 million grant from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The well drilling, estimated at $785,540, is part of a larger $1.9 million initiative, with the grant covering up to 75% of costs. Contracts for the water treatment plant are under review, and discussions are ongoing regarding an interlocal agreement with Lauderdale County for the Town Hall construction site.

The town of Marion is progressing on multiple infrastructure projects, including a new water well and treatment facility. The well drilling, costing $785,540, is part of a $1.9 million project funded by a $3.4 million grant from the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers awarded in 2022. Town Engineer Shaun Miles reported that contractor measurements for well casing were approved, with casing fabrication expected to take three to four weeks. The grant will cover up to 75% of costs, requiring the town to have upfront funds. In addition, contracts for the water treatment plant, awarded to Hemphill Construction, are under review, and follow-up is planned regarding an interlocal agreement with Lauderdale County for the Town Hall construction site.
