Marseille Fos Secures Land for €1.5bn Low-Carbon Hydrogen and E-Fuels Project
The Port of Marseille Fos and H4 Marseille Fos signed occupation titles for a low-carbon hydrogen and e-fuels project in Fos-sur-Mer, solidifying a €1.5bn investment aimed at decarbonizing southern France's industrial zone. The project involves three renewable hydrogen production units with a collective capacity of 300MW, producing approximately 126,000 tonnes of hydrogen per year, alongside a synthetic fuels unit targeting 75,000 tonnes of e-kerosene.
Scheduled for commissioning by the end of 2030, the project could prevent 240,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually. This initiative aligns with Europe’s aviation fuel mandates, demonstrating the necessity for timely, large-scale project development.
