Massachusetts AG Files Brief Against Federal Halt of New England Wind 1 Offshore Project

DEFENSEWIND ENERGY

Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell has filed an amicus brief against the Trump Administration's effort to halt the New England Wind 1 offshore wind project, which is projected to power more than 300,000 homes. Campbell supports developer Avangrid Power, arguing that the project is crucial for meeting energy demands, particularly during winter.

She noted that offshore wind is vital for the state's goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The brief responds to the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management's motion to reconsider the project's construction and operations permit. Campbell urged the court to deny the federal request, highlighting the risk of job losses in the sector and the broader defense of offshore wind development.
