Master Sgt. Gregorio Vargas of the Air Force Reserve was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division (NSWC IHD) for revitalizing its Anti-Terrorism (AT) program within one year.

As the AT officer from January to December 2025, Vargas implemented critical assessments that led to a 95% compliance rate during the NAVSEA Inspector General inspection. He conducted nearly 900 hours of inspections across over 100 restricted buildings and established the AT Working Group to unify anti-terrorism efforts. His leadership significantly enhanced mission readiness and security at a strategically important site.
