Matabeleland South Expects Bumper Harvest in 2025-26 Agricultural Season
Matabeleland South province is optimistic about a bumper harvest in the 2025-26 agricultural season, thanks to favorable rains and the good condition of major cereal crops. Agricultural director Shupikai Sibanda highlighted ongoing weeding and fertilization efforts, while farmers are encouraged to plant sorghum, millet, and sunflower amidst monitoring for fall armyworm outbreaks. Chief Mathe noted improvements over previous years but raised concerns about seed maize supply, relying instead on support from the Zimbabwe National Army and NGOs.

Chief Mathe predicted a better harvest compared to previous years but highlighted issues with seed maize supply from the Grain Marketing Board, instead receiving assistance from the Zimbabwe National Army and NGOs.
