May 2, 1986: Key Operations and Policy Changes in India and Ukraine
On May 2, 1986, significant operations concluded in India as the Punjab Police completed a 14-hour action at the Golden Temple. The Indian government declared two secessionist organizations unlawful, while the Chernobyl reactor in Ukraine was shut down, halting nuclear fusion activities.

The 14-hour Operation Search at the Golden Temple complex concluded with one fatality, two injuries, and the detention of 300 individuals, including Bhai Gurdev Singh.
