MBDA Unveils MURMUR, a Low-Cost Anti-Jam Communication Solution for Drones
MBDA has unveiled MURMUR, a low-cost anti-jam communication solution for drones, at DSEI UK 2025. This system combines affordable commercial radio hardware with proprietary defense-grade software to enhance operational reliability and resilience against data link interception and jamming, particularly for low-cost drones. Developed through MBDA's Smart Visions program, MURMUR features a mesh network architecture that improves collaborative operations, situational awareness, and lethality in high-intensity conflicts.

MBDA introduced MURMUR at DSEI UK 2025, an advanced communications solution designed to enhance operational reliability on modern battlefields. MURMUR addresses issues such as interception and jamming of data links, particularly for low-cost drones and effectors that are increasingly vulnerable due to their simple hardware.
The system integrates affordable commercial radio hardware with MBDA's proprietary defense-grade software, creating a resilient anti-jam radio. Its mesh network architecture allows effectors to operate collaboratively, improving lethality and situational awareness.
A prototype has been successfully demonstrated, and the project, developed through MBDA's Smart Visions intrapreneurship program, aims to meet the demands of high-intensity conflicts. A team of seven specialists in Bristol, UK, leads the project, ensuring rapid evolution and affordability.
