MDC to Construct Walls at Controversial YP Filling Station in Yangon
The Military Development Committee (MDC) will commence wall construction at the contentious Yangon Petrol filling station site this month, as stated by Secretary Moe Min Win. This area, which spans over 3 acres, has been designated as military-owned land amidst public criticism regarding land pricing and construction approvals.

The Military Development Committee (MDC) is set to build walls around the Yangon Petrol (YP) filling station site in South Oakkalapa Township, Yangon, starting this month. This decision follows the suspension of construction due to a lack of communication from the company and previous complaints sent to the Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) in November.
The YP site, located along Gandamar Road, is positioned between military and civilian-owned lands. The army has requested a re-evaluation of land measurements to ensure no encroachment occurs. A warning sign indicating military ownership was placed on the site on January 30. The Yangon Region Government Committee previously approved filling stations in multiple townships, but public backlash persists regarding land pricing discrepancies.
