Meath Solar Farm Planning Application Reduced by 67 Acres
BayWa r.e. Ireland Ltd has submitted a revised planning application for the Fyanstown Solar Farm, now covering 338 acres. The project aims to produce renewable energy for up to 27,000 homes over a 40-year operational period.

BayWa r.e. Ireland Ltd is seeking planning permission for a solar farm and energy storage development near Kells, Co Meath, covering 338 acres. This revised application follows an initial proposal submitted in 2024 for a site of approximately 405 acres, which was withdrawn.
The new project will include around 462,660 square meters of ground-mounted photovoltaic panels and a substantial energy storage compound with 70 containerized modules and associated equipment. The site spans various townlands, including Fyanstown and Kilmainham. Successful approval could significantly contribute to local renewable energy capacity, impacting energy supply dynamics in the region.
