Meeting at US Embassy to Discuss Southern Interconnection Gas Pipeline in Bosnia and Herzegovina
A meeting at the US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina focused on the Southern Interconnection gas pipeline, attended by leaders of the ruling coalition. The construction is set to begin in 2026, with urgent coordination needed between BiH and Croatia for importing American liquefied natural gas. Federal Minister Vedran Lakić announced progress, including the adoption of relevant legislation and the formation of oversight teams for the project.

A meeting regarding the Southern Interconnection gas pipeline is taking place today at the US Embassy, attended by leaders of the ruling coalition in the Federation of BiH. The meeting, starting at 10:30 a.m., follows an agreement among parties to commence construction of the pipeline in 2026.
Urgent coordination is required between BiH and Croatia to facilitate the import of American liquefied natural gas. Federal Minister Vedran Lakić reported progress on the project, highlighting the adoption of the Law on the Southern Gas Interconnection BiH - Croatia earlier this year, which establishes a legal framework for implementation.
Three teams have been formed to oversee the project: political leaders, deputy political leaders with experts, and a team within the Ministry. Additionally, President Lidija Bradara has requested a constitutional review of the interconnection law, which was adopted in December 2024 and January 2025.
