Meta to Construct Ten Gas Plants for Hyperion Data Center in Louisiana
Meta Platforms Inc. is funding the construction of ten natural gas plants to supply 7.5 gigawatts of electricity for its Hyperion data center in Louisiana. This includes seven new plants as part of a deal with Entergy Corp., in addition to three previously approved plants. Meta will also finance 240 miles of transmission lines and battery storage, aiming to offset rising energy costs associated with AI infrastructure. Entergy claims the agreement will lead to over $2 billion in customer savings over 20 years.

Meta Platforms Inc. has signed an agreement with Entergy Corp. to fund ten natural gas-fired plants, totaling 7.5 gigawatts, for its Hyperion data center in Richland Parish, Louisiana. This includes seven new plants, contributing 5.2 gigawatts, in addition to three existing plants.
Meta will also finance 240 miles of transmission lines and storage solutions. The total investment in the Hyperion project is projected at $27 billion. Entergy states that Meta's funding will save customers over $2 billion over 20 years. Regulatory approval is still needed for the new plants.
