Mexico Advances in Clean Energy Technologies
Mexico is progressing in clean energy innovation with geothermal projects and green hydrogen plants. The development of technology to generate electricity from depleted oil wells could significantly increase renewable energy capacity.

Mexico is developing technology to harness geothermal energy from over 20,000 depleted oil wells, aiming to generate 10,000 megawatts of electricity. Additionally, the country is set to activate its first green hydrogen plants in Baja California Sur.
A dedicated exploration and production technology center is also manufacturing catalysts to process sulfur for diesel and gasoline production. These initiatives reflect Mexico's commitment to expanding its clean energy portfolio, which could reduce reliance on fossil fuels and enhance energy security.
