Mexico and Portugal Sign Maritime Corridor Agreement for Cargo and Energy Transport
Mexico and Portugal have signed an Implementation Protocol linking their maritime corridors for cargo and energy transport. The agreement connects the ports of Sines and Coatzacoalcos, with an extension to Salina Cruz, aiming to enhance trade and cooperation. It builds on a 2023 Memorandum of Understanding and promotes foreign trade, engineering, sustainability, and digital transformation. This initiative is part of efforts by Mexico's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Navy to foster strategic alliances and improve port management.

Mexico and Portugal have established a maritime corridor agreement to facilitate cargo and energy transport. The Implementation Protocol was signed by Retired Vice Admiral Martín Zepeda Anguiano and Pedro do Ó Ramos, linking the ports of Sines and Coatzacoalcos as sister ports and extending to Salina Cruz.
The agreement aims to enhance trade, promote industrial development, and foster knowledge exchange in sustainable port management. It stems from a 2023 Memorandum of Understanding and is part of a collaboration framework between Mexico's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Navy, signed on October 28, 2025.
