Mexico and Portugal Sign Maritime Corridor Agreement for Cargo and Energy Transport

DEFENSE

Mexico and Portugal have established a maritime corridor agreement to facilitate cargo and energy transport. The Implementation Protocol was signed by Retired Vice Admiral Martín Zepeda Anguiano and Pedro do Ó Ramos, linking the ports of Sines and Coatzacoalcos as sister ports and extending to Salina Cruz.

The agreement aims to enhance trade, promote industrial development, and foster knowledge exchange in sustainable port management. It stems from a 2023 Memorandum of Understanding and is part of a collaboration framework between Mexico's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Navy, signed on October 28, 2025.
