Michelle Mandel was appointed chief of the Contracting Division for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Alaska District on January 25, 2026. She will oversee contracting activities related to military, civil works, and environmental construction projects within the district.

Mandel has 23 years of experience in contracting, having begun her career as an intern at the Army Regional Contracting Office in Fort Richardson, Alaska. She returned to USACE in 2006 and has held various positions, including Chief of the Military Contracting Branch since 2015, where she managed the F-35 beddown program at Eielson AFB, involving 23 contracts worth $500 million. Her qualifications include multiple contract warrants and recognitions such as the Department of the Army's Achievement Medal for Civilian Service and the USACE Small Business Program Contracting Professional of the Year Award in 2022.
