Michigan Advances Space Sector with Innovation Hub Initiative
Michigan is launching a Space Innovation Hub with a budget of $1.2 million to foster growth in the space economy, projected to reach $1.8 trillion by 2035. This initiative aims to connect local businesses and research entities, enhancing the state's role in the expanding space industry.

Michigan's Economic Development Corp. is inviting proposals for a Space Innovation Hub, aiming to leverage the state's existing aerospace capabilities. The initiative supports a growing national space economy, projected to escalate from $630 billion in 2023 to $1.8 trillion by 2035.
Over 78 Michigan entities contributed to a recent crewed space mission, showcasing local expertise. The hub is part of a broader strategic plan to stimulate defense and aerospace sectors announced by Gov.
Gretchen Whitmer in February. Collaboration in space endeavors is on the rise, with a network expanding from 12 to 150 participants this year. The state is assessing bidders for the hub with a June 1 deadline, aiming for increased federal funding and growth in space-related industries.
