Michigan Invests Over $42 Million in Advanced Air Mobility Initiatives and Tech Workforce Development

Key projects include the establishment of nine test sites and a $2 million fund to support AAM manufacturing. Companies like Teradyne and Eccalon are expanding operations in Michigan, creating hundreds of jobs and contributing to the tech ecosystem. The state is also addressing workforce needs through targeted training and partnerships.

In December 2025, Michigan's Office of Future Mobility and Electrification reported over $42 million in investments for advanced air mobility (AAM) initiatives, which include the establishment of nine active test sites and a $2 million fund for AAM manufacturing. Companies such as Teradyne Robotics are expanding in Wixom, expecting to create 230 jobs with a $32 million investment.
Eccalon plans to invest $71 million and create 800 jobs in Detroit, supported by state grants. HealthBridge Financial is also expanding, investing $17 million and creating 200 jobs in Grand Rapids. The state has identified workforce gaps and is developing training partnerships to support the growing AAM industry.
