Michigan's National All-Domain Warfighting Center Selected for Federal Drone Testing
The Pentagon has selected Michigan's National All-Domain Warfighting Center (NADWC) as one of three national drone testing sites, following advocacy from state lawmakers. This designation aims to enhance U.S. drone capabilities as part of a broader initiative to strengthen national defense strategies by facilitating year-round testing and training for advanced uncrewed aerial systems. The selection is expected to benefit local military bases and industries involved in drone technology.

The Pentagon has designated Michigan's National All-Domain Warfighting Center (NADWC), based at Camp Grayling and Alpena, as one of three national drone testing sites. This decision follows advocacy from Michigan lawmakers and is part of an initiative to enhance U.S. drone capabilities under a June 2025 executive order aimed at 'unleashing American drone dominance.'
NADWC, which spans nearly 148,000 acres and includes significant military airspace, will facilitate testing and training for advanced uncrewed aerial systems (UAS). The site's extensive training environment allows for year-round operations, contributing to national defense strategies.
Michigan's selection is expected to benefit local military bases and private industries involved in drone technology. Lawmakers emphasized the state's potential to support the Pentagon's UAS initiatives through this designation.
