MidAmerican Energy Seeks Increase in Natural Gas Delivery Rates in Iowa
MidAmerican Energy has proposed a natural gas delivery rate increase that would raise the average residential bill by $2.89. This adjustment aims to fund essential infrastructure improvements and maintain safety across Iowa's gas distribution network.

MidAmerican Energy has requested approval from the Iowa Utilities Commission for a delivery rate increase that would raise the average residential natural gas bill from $55.60 to $58.49, a 5% hike. This proposal is intended to finance infrastructure improvements, including pipeline replacements and technology upgrades, while still keeping average bills below 2006 levels.
The utility plans to implement temporary rates starting July 17 during the commission's review, with potential refunds if final rates are lower. Four public consumer meetings will be held as part of the commission's review process.
