Mincon Plans 10-15% Output Boost Through Automation Investment
Mincon is targeting a 10-15% increase in production through new automation technology funded by RTRI via FedNor. This initiative addresses rising production costs, particularly the impact of tungsten carbide on profitability.

Mincon is implementing advanced automation technology at its North Bay facility to increase output by 10-15%. The initiative is supported by funding from the RTRI through FedNor, focusing on the installation of a new induction unit to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
Rising production costs, driven by tungsten carbide comprising 50% of total expenses, have prompted this shift. Additionally, Mincon plans to further automate its welding processes and collaborate with ICAMP at Canadore College to improve workforce skills in robotics and electronics. This transition may lead to a heightened demand for skilled labor as Mincon seeks to strengthen its competitive position in the mining sector.
