The Ministry of Defence is transitioning from South Block to Kartavya Bhavan-II as part of the Central Vista project. This relocation involves over 100 offices and aims to modernize government infrastructure while ensuring operational continuity.

The Ministry of Defence is relocating to Kartavya Bhavan-II from South Block, which has served as its headquarters since 1931. This shift encompasses over 100 offices, including the Defence Minister's, with completion expected in two to three months.
The transition is part of the Central Vista redevelopment project, aiming to modernize facilities while repurposing historical buildings. Security protocols and operational systems will be updated post-relocation, which includes moving the war room used during Operation Sindoor. South Block will be repurposed as a museum, preserving its architectural legacy while marking a significant change in India's defense operations.
