Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma announced the issuance of an Expression of Interest (EOI) to private developers for solar power plants at five locations in the state. This initiative aims to enhance renewable energy generation.

The solar plants will be established in Tumtuitlang, Serchhip Vengchung Bawkmual, Hmunhmeltha, Denlung area in Hnahthial, Tlabung Tlang, and Lallen and Dawhzau Zau in Lamzawl. Additionally, 75 Village Councils have consented to provide land for these projects.

The state has completed 791 rooftop solar installations with a combined capacity of approximately 2.62 MW, supported by a 60% Central subsidy and a 20-25% State subsidy. Furthermore, a Pump Storage Project is planned at Tuichang Lui, which will facilitate energy generation during peak demand by pumping water to higher elevations during low demand periods. These initiatives aim to strengthen clean energy infrastructure in Mizoram.
