Mizoram plans to implement piped natural gas (PNG) by early 2028, focusing on Aizawl and Mamit. The 119.5-km Tripura-Mizoram pipeline, managed by Indradhanush Gas Grid Ltd (IGGL), is currently 45% complete and projected for completion by December 2027.
The pipeline will connect to Sihhmui by March 2027, after which Tripura Natural Gas Company Ltd (TNGCL) will initiate the city gas distribution network. This initiative is part of India's goal to increase the natural gas share in the energy mix to 15% by 2030 and aims to enhance energy access while promoting environmental sustainability.
