Modec and Eld Energy Collaborate on CO2 Capture Systems for FPSOs
Modec is collaborating with Eld Energy to develop CO2 capture systems for its FPSO vessels, utilizing a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) to enhance CO2 removal. A prototype demonstration is scheduled for 2028 in Japan, featuring a 120-kW SOFC unit integrated with a CO2 capture unit, following a pilot-scale 40-kW SOFC offshore power unit set for 2025.
