Modi Inaugurates ₹3,600 Crore Powergrid Projects for Renewable Energy in Rajasthan
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two power transmission projects in Rajasthan with a combined worth of over ₹3,600 crore, developed by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited. The first project, the Transmission System for Evacuation of Power from Renewable Energy Zones - Phase III Part-B1, is designed to handle 20 GW of renewable capacity and includes a 765/400/220 kV substation and a 765 kV double-circuit line.
The second project, the Transmission System Strengthening Scheme for Solar Energy Zones - Phase II Part-E, has a capacity of 8.1 GW and reinforces the existing network with a second 765 kV double-circuit line. Both projects aim to enhance the evacuation of renewable energy from Rajasthan's Bhadla region, critical for meeting India's growing electricity demand and clean energy targets. The projects utilize 765 kV technology for efficient bulk power transfer and improved grid stability.
