Monarch Cloud Campus LLC Seeks Permit for Data Center in Point Pleasant, WV
Monarch Cloud Campus LLC has applied for a construction permit for a data center in Mason County, with operations expected to begin in early 2027. The project involves three buildings and nearly 1,000 natural gas and diesel engines, raising environmental concerns among local opposition groups.

Monarch Cloud Campus LLC submitted a construction permit application to the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection on April 20. The proposed data center, located along W.Va. 62 north of Point Pleasant, will consist of three buildings and feature approximately 1,000 natural gas and diesel engines.
The review process by the DEP is currently underway while opponents of the project are formulating their next actions. The builder anticipates that construction is 'weeks away' and aims for the facility to be operational by early 2027. The project's environmental impact will be scrutinized, particularly in light of ongoing discussions surrounding data center regulations in West Virginia.
