Morocco Advances AI and Data Center Investments for Digital Growth
Morocco is enhancing its digital infrastructure with planned investments in AI and data centers, aiming to become a leader in Africa's digital economy. This is driven by fiber connectivity improvements, renewable energy commitments, and significant funding for AI-specific projects.

As of March 2025, Morocco has 39.9 million internet subscriptions and over 1.12 million fiber-to-the-home connections, reflecting a 22.7% year-on-year increase. The AI Factory initiative, launched in April 2026, includes a data center and innovation hub, with a budget of 12 billion dirhams aiming for 36 megawatts of capacity by the end of 2027.
Concurrently, the Igoudar Numerique program will establish a green data center in Dakhla, targeting both sovereign and private investment needs. Morocco's renewable energy share is projected to exceed 52% by 2030, up from 45.3% currently.
The country improved its AI readiness ranking, moving to 87th globally by 2025, supported by the AI Made in Morocco roadmap. These developments indicate Morocco's strategic shift towards becoming a digital capacity hub for local and regional markets.
