Morocco Launches $272 Million Noor Atlas Solar PV Program for 305 MW Capacity Expansion
Morocco has initiated the Noor Atlas project, a $272 million solar PV program aimed at increasing renewable energy capacity by 305 MW through six new solar plants across six provinces. The project, expected to complete by Q3 2027, is backed by loans from KfW, the European Investment Bank, and the Moroccan Bank of Africa. The initiative will also provide local job training and support for Moroccan industry.

Morocco has launched the Noor Atlas project, a $272 million solar photovoltaic program designed to add 305 megawatts of capacity through six new solar plants in Aïn Béni Mathar, Boudnib, Bouanane, Enjil, Tata, and Tan-Tan. The project will be constructed by consortiums of Moroccan and European firms, promoting local workforce training and job creation.
Expected completion is in Q3 2027, funded by concessional loans from KfW, the European Investment Bank, and the Moroccan Bank of Africa. Power Purchase Agreements have been signed by the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water and MASEN, which oversees the project aimed at achieving 52% renewable energy capacity by 2030.
