Morocco Launches Global Eco-Industrial Parks Program with UNIDO and Switzerland
Morocco has signed an agreement to implement the Global Eco-Industrial Parks Programme (GEIPP II) to transition its industrial parks into eco-industrial parks. The initiative, supported by the Swiss government and UNIDO, aims to improve environmental and economic performance in industrial zones over three years (2026-2028) with a budget of three million Swiss francs. It focuses on resource efficiency, reducing climate footprints, and creating jobs, aligning with national policies and partnerships, including the World Bank.

An agreement for the Global Eco-Industrial Parks Programme (GEIPP II) was signed in Rabat, Morocco, by Minister Ryad Mezzour, Swiss Ambassador Valentin Zellweger, and UNIDO representative Sanae Lahlou. The program aims to enhance the environmental and economic performance of industrial zones from 2026 to 2028, with a budget of three million Swiss francs.
It promotes circular economy principles, aiming to reduce waste and CO2 emissions, optimize resource use, and strengthen industrial synergies. The initiative seeks to improve industrial competitiveness, create jobs, and strengthen resilience against climate change, while aligning with national policies and international partners like the World Bank.
